ASSET Short Placement Tests Developed by ACT

ASSET was developed by ACT (American College Testing) as a series of short placement tests for various educational programs. The ASSET series consists of three subjects: reading, writing and numerical reasoning (analytical math). ASSET tests are usually offered within the ASSET Student Success System, a testing and advising program for placing students into postsecondary institutions.

ASSET tests usually come in traditional paper-and-pencil format, which is a good news for applicants who feel uncomfortable with computer-based tests. Candidates receive their score reports immediately after they take the test.

ASSET tests are widely used by community and technical colleges, so this is a great option for candidates willing to pursue this type of education. ASSET Basic Skills Test consists of the following sections and time slots: Writing Skills (25 minutes); Numerical Skills (25 minutes); Reading Skills (25 minutes).

Students who are interested in pursuing a career path that tends to rely more on mathematics are recommended to take ASSET Advanced Mathematics Measures test. It includes the following sections: Elementary Algebra (25 minutes); Intermediate Algebra (25 minutes); College Algebra (25 minutes); Geometry (25 minutes). Some colleges may add more sections to the ASSET test, like English essay (writing sample), chemistry, or ACT Assessment.
